Day 1: Marrakech → Tizi n’Tichka → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley

Your private journey begins with pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. Travel across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), with time for panoramic views and photo stops.

Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed ksar known for its traditional architecture and appearances in major film and television productions. After exploring the site and enjoying lunch, continue toward Ouarzazate, then through the palm-filled oasis of Skoura and into the scenic Dades Valley.

Arrive in Dades in the evening and relax at your selected accommodation.

Day 2: Dades Valley → Tinghir → Todra Gorge → Merzouga

After breakfast, continue east through traditional Amazigh villages toward Tinghir and its impressive palm oasis.

The journey continues to Todra Gorge, where you can take a walk between the towering limestone cliffs and enjoy the dramatic scenery. After the gorge, travel through the changing landscapes of southeastern Morocco toward Merzouga.

Arrive near the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you can relax at your selected riad before tomorrow’s full Sahara experience.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert → Khamlia → Nomadic Areas → Camel Trek → Sahara Camp

Today is dedicated to discovering the Merzouga Sahara.

After breakfast, explore the desert surroundings by private vehicle, visiting the nomadic areas, Khamlia village, and the Mifiss mines. In Khamlia, experience traditional Gnawa music and learn more about the cultural heritage of the Sahara.

Continue through the desert plains, with an opportunity to meet local nomadic communities and discover a different side of life around Erg Chebbi.

In the afternoon, begin your camel trek across the golden dunes. Ride toward the desert camp while watching the sun set over Erg Chebbi.

At the camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, mint tea, local music, and an evening beneath the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate

Continue to Rissani, an important historic oasis town and former trading center. Depending on the day and opening hours, explore local heritage sites and the surrounding palm oasis.

After lunch, continue through the spectacular Draa Valley, famous for its vast palm groves, kasbahs, and traditional villages.

Arrive in Ouarzazate in the evening and settle into your accommodation.

Is 5 days enough for a Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour?

Yes. Five days gives you more time to explore southern Morocco without rushing through the main stops. The itinerary includes Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, Skoura, Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, Merzouga, and the Erg Chebbi dunes.

The private tour includes private transportation, an English-speaking driver, selected accommodations, a Sahara desert camp, camel trekking, breakfast and dinner at the included accommodations, and a local guide at Ait Ben Haddou.

Spring and autumn are generally comfortable for a Sahara journey. Winter offers pleasant daytime temperatures but cold desert nights, while summer can be extremely hot during the day.

Bring comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, light clothing for daytime, and a warm layer for the desert night. A scarf can also be useful in the dunes.

The tour follows a round-trip route back to Marrakech, with private drop-off at your accommodation at the end of Day 5.
