DAY 1: AGADIR – TAROUDANT – ANTI-ATLAS – OUARZAZATE

Your Agadir to Merzouga desert tour begins in the morning with your private vehicle and local driver/guide.

Leave Agadir and travel inland toward Taroudant, one of southern Morocco’s historic walled cities. Often associated with the nickname “Grandmother of Marrakech,” Taroudant is known for its ochre-colored walls, traditional souks, local crafts, and authentic atmosphere. Take time to explore the medina and experience the city at a relaxed pace.

From Taroudant, continue east through the Souss Valley and toward the Anti-Atlas. The scenery gradually changes from agricultural landscapes to rugged mountains, rocky valleys, and small Amazigh communities.

Continue toward Ouarzazate, one of the main gateways between the High Atlas and Morocco’s desert regions. The surrounding landscapes have attracted filmmakers from around the world and are closely associated with Morocco’s cinematic history.

DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – VALLEY OF ROSES – DADES – TODRA – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, continue east through some of southern Morocco’s most varied landscapes.

Depending on your interests and the day’s timing, you can visit the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate before continuing toward the palm oasis of Skoura.

The route then leads through Kelaat M’Gouna, the heart of Morocco’s Valley of Roses, before entering the spectacular Dades Valley. This region is known for its red rock formations, kasbahs, and winding mountain roads.

Continue toward Todra Gorge, where enormous limestone cliffs rise dramatically on either side of the narrow canyon. Take a walk through part of the gorge and enjoy time for photographs.

From Todra, continue through Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and its position on the edge of the Sahara. From here, the landscape becomes increasingly desert-like as you approach Merzouga.

By late afternoon or evening, the first dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT – KHAMLIA – OASES – NOMADIC AREA – CAMEL TREK – SAHARA CAMP

Today is dedicated entirely to the Merzouga Desert.

After breakfast, explore the desert region by private 4×4. Visit Khamlia, a village famous for its Gnawa musical heritage, and experience a traditional performance.

Continue through the surrounding desert landscapes, with opportunities to see local oases, old mining areas, and the changing terrain around Erg Chebbi. Where appropriate and with local arrangements, you can also meet nomadic families and learn about traditional life in the Sahara.

After lunch and some time to relax, return toward the dunes for your camel experience.

As the afternoon light begins to soften, mount your camels and cross the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi on a sunset trek.

At the desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, spend time around the campfire, and experience local music beneath the stars.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – DRAA VALLEY – AGDEZ – OUARZAZATE

Wake early if you wish to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before returning by camel to the edge of the desert.

After breakfast and time to refresh, begin the return journey.

Travel through Rissani, one of the historic towns of the Tafilalet region, before continuing toward the Draa Valley. The valley is famous for its long stretches of date palms, traditional villages, and ancient kasbahs.

Continue toward Agdez, a historic settlement surrounded by the landscapes of the Draa Valley, before following the route back toward Ouarzazate.

DAY 5: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – HIGH ATLAS – AGADIR

After breakfast, begin the final day of your journey with a visit to Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walk through the narrow paths of the historic ksar and admire its traditional earthen architecture. The site has also served as a filming location for numerous international productions.

After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, continue toward Agadir through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco.
