Day 2: Fes – Guided City Tour
Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, the oldest city in Morocco. We’ll wander through its narrow alleys, starting at the Royal Palace gate and then visiting the Jewish quarter, home of Morocco’s first Mellah built in the 16th century. Highlights include Al Qaraouine University, the Tanneries, Attarine Museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, we’ll visit local cooperatives and enjoy a panoramic view over the Medina before returning to your riad for the night.

After breakfast, we depart Fes, driving through the Mid-Atlas region. We’ll stop in Ifrane, known as “Switzerland of Morocco,” then visit the cedar forests of Azrou to see the Berber apes. Continuing to Midelt for lunch, we’ll follow the Ziz River through the Ziz Gorge and cross Erfoud and Rissani, stopping at the local souk. Our day ends in Merzouga with an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert
Following breakfast, we’ll head into the desert, swapping our 4×4 for camels to explore the Erg Chebbi dunes. Experience the nomadic Berber lifestyle and visit the black village of Khamlia to enjoy Gnawan music. Lunch is a traditional Berber pizza in Rissani. In the afternoon, we ride camels to watch the sunset over the dunes and return to our desert camp for a tagine dinner, local mint tea, and Berber music under the starry Sahara sky.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge
Start early to catch the desert sunrise and return by camel to the village. We then drive to Tinghir to visit the Todra Gorge, Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorge, with optional hiking. After lunch, continue to the Dades Gorge, stopping to admire the “Monkey Toes” rock formations. Overnight is in a local hotel or riad in Dades Gorge.

MOROCCO TOURS FAQS

How many days in Morocco is enough?

The ideal length of a trip to Morocco depends on what you want to see and do. In most cases, spending about seven to ten days is enough to enjoy a balanced itinerary that includes major destinations such as Marrakech, Fes, and a journey into the desert. If you prefer to explore particular regions in more depth or take part in additional activities, extending your visit to two weeks or longer can be worthwhile. In the end, the right amount of time differs for every traveler and depends on personal interests and travel goals.
